Back to School Blues: One Dress, Three Different First Day Looks

If the back to school season has not yet begun, it is at least creeping up on us. I know, I am moaning and groaning along with you. However, it's not all painfully horrible-we have the excuse to buy a whole new selection of trendy clothes! Here I am using a simple and popular dress from Brandy Melville and pairing it three different ways to create various styles for your first day back.

Edgy (kinda) Look:

This beautiful black and white striped Brandy Melville "Bethan" dress. The basic colors and pattern make this dress a breeze to pair with! This dress has a one size all fit, therefore the material is rather stretchy which makes it ultra comfortable. It runs pretty short, and if you're on the taller side this dress may not be fingertip length. In addition, the dress a small ovular cutout in the back, which adds a nice touch to it but may be against the dress code of some schools. Any similar fit and flare type dress works for these looks.

These simple yet edgy Steve Madden combat boots. Super easy to find nearly identical shoes like these at Target, Payless, DSW and Famous Footwear. This style and color of combat boot are my goto shoe to instantly add casual edge to an outfit.

This gorgeous colored cardigan from American Eagle. Any jewel toned cardigan or sweater is amazing to pair with neutrals and are especially nice in the fall. A simple cardigan can be thrown over the dress to make it more school appropriate.

Dressier Look:

Yup! This dress again.

Words truly can't describe my feelings towards this jacket. Amazing color, amazing fit, just amazing. I  love pairing deep fall colors with plain old black and white.

I am SO in love with these plaid tan booties from
American Eagle! Totally finishes off this outfit.

Super Casual Look:

See! This dress can go with everything!

If you're one of those chill girls than a denim vest is the way to go! I love the look of sleeveless denim with cute patterned sleeves underneath. This jacket totally de-formalizes the dress while still looking uber chic! Also vests like these are ridiculously accessible and affordable! This one in particular is from Target.

I totally adore these bright red canvas shoes! They add instant life to any bland colored outfit and they are super comfy and casual. These are from the Vans store, but you can find dupes for much cheaper at Target!

That concludes my back to school first day guide! Which one is your favorite? I hope you enjoyed and maybe got some inspiration from this post. Happy studying!
